appreciative は appreciate に形容詞語尾 -ive が付いた語で、語源は後期ラテン語 appretiare「値段を付ける」です。ad-「…へ」＋ pretium「価格」から成り、price や precious と同根なので、「価値が分かる」から「感謝している」へ伸びた語だと分かります。
