因果関係の観点から、という副詞。原因と結果の関連性に基づいて物事を説明する際に使う。
例文
The two events are causally related, though the connection is not immediately obvious.
その二つの出来事は因果的に関連しているが、つながりはすぐにはわからない。
The study aimed to determine whether the variables were causally linked.
その研究は変数が因果的に結びついているかどうかを明らかにすることを目的としていた。
Correlation does not mean the factors are causally connected.
相関関係があるからといって、その要因が因果的につながっているわけではない。
語源
causally は causal「因果の」+ -ly「〜に」。causal はラテン語 causa「原因・理由」に由来し、出来事の背後にある「なぜ」を示す語です。cause や because も同根で、ばらばらの事実を理由の糸で結ぶ感じが見えます。
