知らない人に状況、背景、詳細を説明して情報の空白を埋める時に使う。会議に遅れた人や新しい担当者へ、必要な情報を共有する文脈で自然。 対象や前置詞に注目すると、物理的な意味か比喩的な意味かを判断しやすい。
Fill someone in on something means to give that person the information they are missing. It is used when explaining a situation, background, or details. The person becomes up to date after being filled in.
