語源
hastening は haste「急ぎ」+ -en「…にする」+ -ing で、土台の haste は古フランス語 haste、さらにゲルマン系語源にさかのぼる。hasty や hasten も同根なので、「急ぎという状態へ持っていく動き」がそのまま急がせる・急ぐの感覚になる。
