失われるほどの愛情がそもそもない場面という字面から、互いに嫌っている関係を表す。一見よさそうな字面とは逆に、敵対や確執を皮肉に表す。 実際の字面どおりではなく、感情や状況を具体的な絵で強める慣用句。会話でも文章でも、状況を少し強めて描く時に使う。
