語源
phase はギリシャ語 phasis「現れ方・段階」がもとで、語根は phainein「見せる」です。out は古英語 ut「外へ」で、「段階を追って表舞台の外へ出す」ことから「段階的に廃止する」になりました。phenomenon や phantom も同根です。
