単純な分子（モノマー）が結合して大きな分子（ポリマー）を形成する化学反応のプロセス。通常は重合剤や触媒を用いて進行し、反応条件によって分子の構造が左右される。高分子材料やプラスチックの合成に欠かせない工程である。
