学部生

学部生とは、大学の学部に在籍している学生のことです。修士課程や博士課程に進む前の段階であり、通常は4年間の学部教育を受けます。大学生の中でも特に学部レベルの学生を指します。
An undergrad is a student at a college or university who has not yet earned a first degree. The word is short for undergraduate. It is common in everyday speech, especially in American English.

undergrad は undergraduate の会話的な短縮形として覚えると残りやすいです。まず grad は graduate school（大学院）や graduate student を連想し、「学位・卒業の段階に進んだ側」の語感を持たせる。そこに under が付くので、「grad の前段階＝大学院生ではなく学部生」と整理できます。campus では an undergrad, undergrad students の形でよく出ます。student だけだと広すぎますが、undergrad は大学の学部課程にいることをはっきり示す語です。
