loudspeaker の語源・成り立ち Etymology
loud「大きな音の」と speaker「話すもの」を組み合わせた複合語です。speaker は speak に -er が付いた語で、もとは「話す人」を指しますが、19世紀末以降、音声を出す装置にも使われるようになりました。
