To connect means to join two or more things so they work together or have a link. It is used for physical objects, computers and networks, and also for people, ideas, or experiences. It often appears with "to" or "with."

語源はラテン語 connectere「結び合わせる」で、con-「共に」＋ nectere「結ぶ」から成ります。もともと「ばらばらのものをひもで一緒に縛る」感覚なので、そこから「接続する」の意味になりました。関連語は connection, nexus です。
