ニーチェ哲学において、既存の価値観を超越し、人間の可能性を極限まで追求する理想的な人間像。通常の人間を超えた超越的存在を指す。
Overman means a person seen as greater, stronger, or more advanced than ordinary humans. It is a rare and literary word, often used in philosophy, especially in discussions of Nietzsche. In modern English, it is not common in everyday conversation.

over と man の形から、まず「ふつうの人 ordinary man を上回る人」と置くと入りやすいです。ただし筋力や超能力で勝つヒーローではなく、ニーチェ文脈では既成の善悪や社会の価値観をそのまま受け取らず、自分で価値を作って生きる理想像を指します。superman と近く見えても、漫画的な『スーパーマン』ではなく philosophical ideal と結びつけて覚えると意味がぶれません。
The shape is simple: `over` + `man`, so think of a person beyond the ordinary human level. But do not connect it with comic-book `superman`. It is better remembered as a philosophical ideal, especially in Nietzsche.

overman は over「上へ、越えて」+ man「人」の複合で、英語本来では「監督者」の語でもありました。『超人』の意味ではドイツ語 Übermensch の訳語として広まり、「人間を越えていく者」と捉えると腑に落ちます。関連語 superman・Übermensch。
Overman combines over and man. In English it could mean a person above others, such as a supervisor, but it became especially known as a translation of German Übermensch. From that source, the idea shifted toward someone who goes beyond ordinary human limits; compare superman.
