reachability は reach「手を伸ばして届く」に由来し、reach は古英語 rǣcan、さらにゲルマン祖語で「伸ばす」にさかのぼります。語尾は -able「できる」＋ -ity「性質」。reachable や overreach に同じ語根が見え、「届きうる性質」がそのまま到達可能性です。
Reachability comes from reach with the suffixes -able and -ity. Reach goes back to Old English raecan, from a Germanic root meaning to stretch out or extend. So the word literally means the quality of being able to be reached, and it keeps the old physical sense of stretching toward something; related words include reachable and overreach.
