reach「届く・達する」が分かれば、reachable はそのまま「届ける状態」。-able は drinkable, readable と同じく「〜できる」を作る形なので、reach + able で覚えると崩れにくいです。物理的に手が届く場面だけでなく、be reachable by phone/email のように「連絡が取れる」にもよく使います。似た語 accessible は「近づきやすい・利用しやすい」で、reachable はまず「届く／到達できる」が芯です。

reachable は reach「届く、達する」に形容詞語尾 -able「できる」が付いた語で、reach は古英語 ræcan「手を伸ばす、届く」にさかのぼります。overreach や outreach と同根で、「手を伸ばせば届く」感覚から「到達可能な」という意味が生まれました。
Reachable comes from reach with the suffix -able, meaning "able to be." Reach goes back to Old English raecan or recan, meaning "to stretch out" or "attain."
