reachable は reach「届く、達する」に形容詞語尾 -able「できる」が付いた語で、reach は古英語 ræcan「手を伸ばす、届く」にさかのぼります。overreach や outreach と同根で、「手を伸ばせば届く」感覚から「到達可能な」という意味が生まれました。
Reachable comes from reach with the suffix -able, meaning "able to be." Reach goes back to Old English raecan or recan, meaning "to stretch out" or "attain."
