tactic は近代ラテン語 tactica を経て、ギリシャ語 taktikē「配置の技術」に由来します。もとの tassein は「並べる・整える」で、taxonomy や syntax も同根。軍をどう並べるかという発想から、具体的な「戦術」の意味になりました。
Tactic comes through modern Latin tactica from Greek taktikē, meaning the art of arranging or placing things in order.
