知性や判断力に欠け、考えが浅く、愚かで間抜けに見える様子を表す形容詞。人の言動や判断、表情などに対して使われ、単に知識がないというより、気の利かなさや鈍さ、ばかばかしさを含んで批判的に述べるときに用いられる。
If someone is witless, they seem very foolish or unable to think clearly. It can describe a person, behavior, or an expression. The word is quite negative and can sound insulting.
