co- は coworker, cofounder, coexist などで見える「共同の」なので、author「著者」と組み合わせれば「共同の著者」とそのまま取れます。ポイントは、ただ手伝った人ではなく、著者として名前が並ぶ人だということ。collaborator よりも本・論文など正式な著作物の響きが強く、coauthor a paper / coauthor a book の形でよく出ます。単独なら author、複数名の執筆関係を強調すると coauthor です。
The prefix `co-` means "together," as in `coworker` or `cofounder`. Add it to `author`, and you get someone who shares official authorship. Use it for books or papers where names appear together, not just for someone who gave a little help.
