既存の主流文化に反発する非主流の文化運動のことです。主に若者が支配的な社会規範や価値観に異議を唱える文化的現象です。1960年代のヒッピー運動などが代表例です。
A counterculture is a group or way of life whose values and behavior are different from, and often against, the main culture of society. It is often used when talking about youth movements, music, art, fashion, or politics. The word suggests active rejection of common social ideas, not just being different.
