主に戦闘機どうしが空中で接近し、機動しながら戦う戦闘を指す。航空戦の文脈でよく使われ、特に至近距離での激しい攻防を表す語である。比喩的に激しい争いを指すこともあるが、基本義は空中戦。
A dogfight is a close battle between military aircraft in the air. It usually involves fast movement, sharp turns, and direct attacks at short range. The word can also be used more generally for any intense and chaotic fight or competition.
