中世神聖ローマ帝国における領主の称号で、国境地域を統治する貴族。境界領土（マーク）を守る責任を持つ身分。
A margrave was a noble ruler of a border area in parts of medieval Europe, especially in the Holy Roman Empire. The title was connected with protecting and governing a frontier region. It is mainly used in historical writing.
