犯罪や計画などを背後で立案し、中心となって人を動かしながら実行へ導くことを表す。単に思いつくだけではなく、全体を指揮して進める含みがあり、特に陰謀、不正、大規模な作戦などについて、黒幕として動く場合によく使われる。
Masterminding means planning and controlling a complicated action or project so it succeeds. It is often used when one person is the main organizer behind an important event, and it can also suggest secret or criminal planning.
