解説 Definition
時刻を言うとき、数字の後ろについて「〜時ちょうど」を表す語。five o'clock なら「5時」の意味になる。分や秒を言わず、きっかりの時刻を示すのが基本で、日常会話や予定の確認でよく使われる。
Used when telling the exact hour on a clock. It comes after a number, such as three o'clock or ten o'clock. It is not normally used when minutes are included.

clock が見えたら、「時計の短針が数字をぴたりと指している絵」を思い浮かべると定着しやすい。five o'clock, six o'clock のように、時を表す数字の直後に置いて「〜時ちょうど」を作る固定表現。5:30 や 5:05 のように分が出る場面では普通は使わず、予定や待ち合わせでは at five o'clock の形が頻出。at five だけでも通じるが、o'clock を入れると“きっかりその時刻”がよりはっきりする。単独の o'clock はほぼ使わないので、数字とセットで覚えるのがコツ。
