siddha はサンスクリット語 siddha「成就した・完成した」に由来し、動詞語根 sidh-「達成する・成功する」から来た語です。siddhi や Siddhartha にも同じ siddh- が見え、悟った聖者を指すのは「修行の目標を成し遂げた人」だからだとわかります。
Siddha comes from Sanskrit siddha, meaning "accomplished" or "fulfilled," from the root sidh-, "to achieve" or "to succeed."
