symposia は symposium（シンポジウム、討論会）の複数形です。学術的・専門的なテーマについて発表や討論を行う複数の会合を指します。
Two or more formal meetings at which specialists present and discuss ideas or research on particular subjects. Symposia is the traditional plural of symposium, although the regular plural symposiums is also accepted.

Symposia is the traditional plural of symposium. English borrowed symposium through Latin from Greek symposion, originally a drinking party or social gathering following a meal. The Greek word combines syn-, “together,” with a form related to posis, “drinking.” Because such gatherings included conversation and intellectual exchange, the word later developed its modern sense of an organized meeting for formal discussion. English also permits the regular plural symposiums.
