blenderはblendに道具を表す-erが付いた語で、blendは古ノルド語blanda「混ぜる」に由来する。blendやblendingも同じ核。材料をばらばらでなく一つに溶け合わせる働きが、そのままミキサーの名になった。
Blender is built from blend and the agent ending -er, meaning a thing that does an action. Blend comes from Old Norse blanda, "to mix." The word kept the simple idea of combining separate things into one, and blender became the name of the machine that does that.
