帝国主義は一国が他国や地域を政治的・経済的・文化的に支配しようとする政策や思想をいう。歴史的には植民地主義と密接に結びついており、支配や搾取の正当化に使われた。今日でも強い立場から弱い側を押しつける行動を批判する文脈で用いられることが多い。
