中世から近代にかけて、聖職者（特に大聖堂参事会員）に与えられた俸給または手当。聖職者の経済的生活を支えていた収入源。
A prebend is money or income given to a member of the Christian clergy as part of their official position. It is usually connected with a cathedral or church office. This is an old or specialized religious term, not common in everyday English.
