rapeseed は rape＋seed ですが、この rape は「強姦」ではなく、ラテン語 rapum／rapa「カブ」に由来する植物名です。アブラナを turnip 系植物として呼んだ名に seed が付いた形で、rabe や rapini も同じ語根です。
