Syndication is the system of selling the same TV program, radio show, article, or other content to many different companies or stations. It is commonly used in media and publishing to spread content to a wider audience.

syndication は syndicate + -ion で、syndicate はフランス語 syndicat、さらにギリシャ語 syndikos「共同の弁護人」にさかのぼります。syn-「共に」+ dike「裁き・正義」なので、「複数者がまとまって扱う」感覚から番組の共同販売・配信という意味になりました。関連語は syndicate, syndic。
Syndication comes from syndicate plus -ion. Syndicate came through French from Greek syndikos, which referred to someone acting together with others in a legal or public matter, from syn- "together" and dike "justice" or "judgment."
