科学的な知識や理論を実際の目的に応用するための方法・技能・仕組みを指す語。機械、情報通信、医療、工業など幅広い分野で使われ、特に現代ではコンピューターやデジタル機器に関する先端技術を表すことが多い。
Technology means the use of scientific knowledge, machines, tools, or systems to solve problems and do tasks more efficiently. It often refers to computers, the internet, electronics, and modern inventions, but it can also describe methods used in many fields. The word can mean both the tools themselves and the general field of technical development.
覚え方のコツ Memory Tip
まず tech という短縮形と結び付けると覚えやすいです。technology は「個々のやり方」より広く、機械・IT・医療などを支える“技術全体・技術分野”の語。tech company, new technology, advanced technology, information technology などの形でよく見ます。似た語では technique が「具体的なコツ・手法」、technical は「技術的な」という形容詞。technology を核に tech / technical / technique をセットで整理すると混同しにくくなります。
Keep `I forgot my ...` as one chunk you can reuse. Then swap the last word: `ticket`, `wallet`, `phone`, `homework`. It is also useful to compare it with `I lost my ticket`, because `forgot` means you did not bring it, while `lost` means it disappeared later.

technology の語源・成り立ち Etymology
technology はギリシャ語 tekhne「技術・職人のわざ」+ -logy「学・論」から成ります。つまり元の意味は『技を体系的に語ること』で、technique や technical を見ると、テクノロジーが単なる機械でなく“わざ”の延長だと分かります。
"Forget" comes from Old English "forgietan," made from a prefix meaning something like "completely" and a verb meaning "to grasp or get." The older image is of failing to hold onto something in the mind. "Ticket" came through French from "etiquette," which first meant a label or tag, and later developed into the modern sense of a written pass or slip.
