ジェットエンジンの一種で、ガスタービンコアの前方にファンを備えています。ファンで加速された空気の一部または多くがコアの周りを通って推力を生み、低バイパス型から高バイパス型まで用途に応じた種類があります。高バイパス型は燃費や騒音面に優れ、現代の商用航空機で広く使われています。
A turbofan is a type of jet engine that uses a large fan at the front to push air and create thrust. It is commonly used in passenger planes and many modern aircraft. Compared with older jet engines, it is usually more efficient and quieter.
