twentieth の語源・成り立ち Etymology
twentieth は古英語 twentigoþa にさかのぼり、twenty（古英語 twentig）+ 序数語尾 -th でできています。twenty は two と同系で、twice や twin も同じ語根の仲間です。「二十」という数を、そのまま順番に並べ替えた語だと見えてきます。
