二つのものを比べたとき、性質や印象がはっきり逆である相手を指す名詞。人物・態度・考え方・状況などの対比で使われ、「A is the antithesis of B」の形で現れることが多い。抽象的な議論だけでなく、日常的な比較にも使える。
