覚え方のコツ Memory Tip
blog は「長めの post を、web 上で継続的に出していく場所」とまとめると覚えやすいです。SNS の短い投稿より、1本ずつ内容のある記事を書く感じ。blog post, write a blog, run a blog, personal blog, company blog など、よく一緒に出る形で覚えると定着します。vlog は video 版、diary はより私的、website は入れ物全体で、blog はその中で更新される記事の流れだと区別すると混乱しにくいです。
Think of a `blog` as a place on the web where longer posts appear over time. It is more article-like than short social media posts, so collocations like `blog post`, `write a blog`, and `run a blog` are helpful. Keep it separate from `vlog` for video and from `website`, which is the whole site.

blog は weblog の短縮形で、web と log「記録」を組み合わせた語から生まれた。1990年代後半に広まり、当初はウェブ上の記録や日誌を指したが、現在では個人・企業の継続的な記事発信全般を表す語になっている。
A shortened form of weblog, made from web and log. It appeared in the late 1990s and first meant a record or diary kept on the web. Later its meaning widened to cover regular online writing of many kinds, not only personal journals.
