解説 Definition
化学式 CCl3CHO で表される有機塩素化合物。水と反応して、かつて鎮静薬・睡眠薬として用いられた抱水クロラールを生じるが、クロラール自体は抱水クロラールとは別の化合物である。
Chloral is the organochlorine compound trichloroacetaldehyde, with the formula CCl3CHO. It reacts with water to form chloral hydrate, a different compound formerly used as a sedative and sleep aid.
