海岸線
解説 Definition
陸地と海が接する境界線。また、その境界に沿って続く海岸地域を指す。
This is the boundary where the land meets the sea, or the stretch of coastal land along that boundary. It is often used to describe the shape or physical features of a country's or island's edge.
覚え方のコツ Memory Tip
coast（海岸）＋ line（線）で「海岸が描く線＝海岸線」とそのまま分解できる。この -line は skyline（空を背景にした輪郭線）、borderline（境界線）と同じ「輪郭・線」を作る語尾なのでセットで覚えると応用が利く。coast が海岸という「場所」を指すのに対し、coastline は地図上や眺めとしての「線・輪郭」に焦点がある点が違い。a rugged coastline（ごつごつした海岸線）のように、地形描写でよく出る形で覚えると定着しやすい。
