解説 Definition
developing は develop（開発する、発達する）の現在分詞で、形容詞としては「開発中の」「発展途上の」という意味です。製品や計画などがまだ作られている途中であることを表します。
Being created, improved, or brought toward a more advanced or complete state. It describes a product, plan, place, or situation that is still changing and has not yet reached its finished form.
覚え方のコツ Memory Tip
原形 develop「開発する・発達する」に -ing を付けた現在分詞で、語末の p は重ねません。形容詞では developing app／project のように、完成へ向けて今も変化しているものを修飾します。「すでに完成した」developed との対比で覚えましょう。
`Draw` can mean pull, and `out` adds the idea of bringing something from inside to outside. So `draw out` is to pull something out slowly, whether it is a sword, an opinion, or a shy person's thoughts. It can also mean make something longer, as in `the meeting was drawn out`.

フランス語 développer（包みを開く）から。接頭辞 dés-（反対）+ enveloper（包む）で「包みを解いて中身を広げる」が原義。envelope（封筒）と同根。潜在的なものを展開・発展させるイメージから「開発中の、発展途上の」の意味になった。
Developing is formed from the verb develop and the participial suffix -ing. Develop entered English through French développer, historically conveying the idea of unfolding or bringing something into view. Its senses later expanded to include causing something to grow, advance, or take shape. As an adjective, developing therefore describes something whose potential or planned form is still being unfolded or realized.
