ductility は ductile + -ity で、ductile は Latin ducere「導く」から出た ductilis「引いて伸ばせる」に由来します。『導くようにぐっと引ける性質』と考えると延性が見えやすく、conduct や induce も同じ duc-/duct- 系です。
