帽状腱膜
解説 Definition
帽状腱膜は、頭皮の中で前頭筋と後頭筋をつなぐ広い腱膜です。頭頂部を帽子のように覆う線維性の膜ですが、脳を直接保護したり頭部の形を保つ主要構造というより、頭皮や表情筋の動きに関わる解剖構造です。

galea はラテン語で『かぶと、兜形の覆い』を意味し、英語では医学で頭蓋を帽子のように覆う膜の名になりました。『ヘルメットのような形』という比喩で意味がつかめ、galeate（兜形の）も同語根です。
Galea comes directly from Latin galea, meaning "helmet." In English it was used especially in anatomy for a part that covers the skull like a cap or helmet. The meaning shifted by shape, from a real helmet to something helmet-like in the body.
