心材
解説 Definition
樹木の中心部分に位置する、より硬く暗い色をした木質。年輪が古い部分であり、樹液の流通がない死んだ組織です。家具や建設材料として値打ちのある部分です。
Heartwood is the hard, darker inner wood at the center of a tree trunk. It is older than the outer wood and usually does not carry water through the tree. The term is common in biology, forestry, and woodworking.
