Etymology
The English name Icarus comes through Latin Icarus from Ancient Greek Ikaros. The earlier origin of the Greek name is uncertain, so it should not be divided into meaningful modern English parts. Its cultural associations come from the Greek myth in which Icarus falls after flying too near the sun. The adjective Icarian was later formed from the name and can describe Icarus or dangerously ambitious flight.
