解説 Definition
interned は intern の過去形・過去分詞です。（1）戦時中などに人を「抑留した、収容した」、または「抑留された」という意味と、（2）職業経験を得るため「インターンとして働いた」という意味があります。語義によって強勢の位置が異なります。
Interned is the past-tense and past-participle form of intern. It can mean confined or detained someone, especially in a wartime or political context, or worked temporarily in an organization as an intern to gain practical experience. The two senses differ in stress.

A camp or wartime context suggests detention, while a company or department suggests practical training. The final n is not doubled because intern does not end in a single vowel letter followed by a single consonant letter.
