An interviewee is the person who is being interviewed. This word is used in job interviews, research, news reporting, and other situations where someone answers questions. It is the opposite of interviewer.
覚え方のコツ Memory Tip
interview + -ee で覚える。-ee は employee, trainee, addressee などと同じく「その行為を受ける側」を表すことが多いので、interviewee は「インタビューされる人」。対になる interviewer は「質問する側」。面接の場面を思い浮かべ、interviewer が聞き、interviewee が答える配置で覚えると混同しにくい。就職面接でも取材でも使え、「話を聞かれる対象者」という感覚で押さえると定着しやすい。
Remember `interview` + `-ee`. The ending `-ee` often means the person who receives the action, like in `employee` or `trainee`. So the `interviewer` asks questions, and the `interviewee` answers them.

intervieweeはinterview + -ee「される人」で、inter-「相互に」+ view「見る」が土台です。employeeやaddresseeと同じ-eeなので、「向かい合って見られ、話を聞かれる側」から面接や取材の対象者だと分かります。
Interviewee is formed from interview and the suffix -ee, which often means "the person who receives an action." Interview itself was built from inter- "between" and view, originally suggesting a meeting face to face.
