「view」は古フランス語 vue を経て、ラテン語 videre「見る」にさかのぼります。語根 vid／vis は「見る」で、vision や video も同類。view が単なる景色でなく「目に入ってきたもの、見え方」を表すとわかると、意味の芯がつかめます。
