覚え方のコツ Memory Tip
at the last minute(最後の1分で=土壇場で)という熟語をハイフンでつないで形容詞にした語。「締め切り直前の最後の1分」の場面を思い浮かべれば「土壇場の・直前の」という意味が自然に固定できる。a last-minute change(直前の変更)、last-minute preparations(駆け込みの準備)のように名詞の前に置いて使うのが基本。final が単に「最終の」なのに対し、last-minute は「もう時間がない切羽詰まった感じ」を含むと押さえると混同しにくい。
