logistical はフランス語 logistique に由来し、核は logis「宿営・宿泊」で、英語 lodge と同じ流れの語です。もとは軍隊をどこに泊めどう補給するかの技術を指したため、今の「物流の」も単なる運搬でなく段取り全体を組む感覚が残ります。
From French logistique, based on logis, meaning lodging or quarters, and related to English lodge. It first referred to the military work of housing troops and arranging supplies. From that sense of planning movement and support, it developed into the modern broader idea of logistics.
