神経組織から生じる良性腫瘍。通常は神経周辺の細胞が過剰に成長したもの。
A neuroma is an abnormal growth or thickening of nerve tissue. It is a medical term and often refers to a condition that can cause pain, tingling, or other nerve-related problems. The word is mainly used by doctors and in health information.

まず neuro- を見たら「神経・脳まわり」の語だと反応できるようにすると覚えやすいです。neurology, neural, neurotransmitter などと同じ仲間です。さらに医学用語の -oma は melanoma, lymphoma のように「腫瘍名」でよく出るので、neuroma は形だけで「神経にできる腫瘍」とかなり推測できます。neuralgia（神経痛）のような“痛み”の語と混同せず、-oma が付いたら“できもの・腫瘍”寄りだと整理すると定着します。

ギリシャ語 neuron「神経」に、腫瘍を表す医学語尾 -oma が付いた新ラテン語。neural や neurology と同根で、「神経にできたもの」という成り立ちがそのまま意味になっており、医学語らしい直截さがある。
Neuroma was formed in medical Latin from Greek neuron, meaning "nerve," plus the ending -oma, used for tumors or swellings. Its literal sense is simply something formed on or from a nerve. It shares its root with English words like neural and neurology.
