Neurology is the branch of medicine that studies the brain, nerves, and nervous system. It deals with illnesses and problems that affect how the body and mind send and receive signals. The word is mainly used in medical and hospital contexts.

neurology は、まず biology・psychology などでおなじみの -logy を見て「〜学」と捉えると覚えやすいです。前半の neuro- は neuron（ニューロン）や neurological（神経の）と同じ仲間で、「神経・脳」に関係する印。つまり neuro + logy で「神経を扱う学問」。医師個人の neurologist や、外科寄りの neurosurgery と混同せず、分野名として押さえると整理しやすいです。
