biology, geology などと同じく -logy は「学問」。だから psychology は「psycho-（心）」を扱う学問だと分けて覚えると残りやすいです。psyche, psychic, psychiatrist なども同じ心のグループ。特に psychiatry は「心の病気を治療する医学」、psychology は「心や行動を研究する学問」という違いをセットで整理すると混同しません。study psychology, child psychology, social psychology などの形でもよく出ます。つづりは先頭の p を読まない点にも注意。
The ending `-logy` often means "the study of," like in `biology` or `geology`. So `psychology` is the study of the `psycho-` side: the mind. Link it with words like `psyche`, `psychological`, and `psychiatry`, but note that `psychiatry` is medical treatment. Also remember the first `p` is silent.

psychology は近代ラテン語 psychologia からで、ギリシャ語 psychē「魂・心」+ -logia「学問」に分かれます。psyche や psychic と同根で、もとは「魂の学問」だったため、今の「心を研究する学問」という意味に自然につながります。
Psychology comes from modern Latin psychologia, built from Greek psyche "soul, mind" and -logia "study of." It originally meant something like "the study of the soul."
