Memory Tip
a periodical report, a periodical review, a periodical publication
Connect period with a fixed interval of time. Picture a journal or magazine returning every week, month, or quarter instead of being published only once.

Etymology
The word is based on Greek periodos, meaning "a circuit" or "a going around," from peri-, "around," and hodos, "way." The idea of completing a cycle led to the sense of something that appears regularly.
