radiologyはradio-+ -logyから成り、核のradiusはラテン語で「光線、車輪の spokes」を意味しました。中心からまっすぐ伸びる線のイメージが「放射線」になり、それを学ぶ学問がradiologyです。radiateやradiationも同根です。
